Garden Design Inspiration

My garden snapshots tend to be taken on the fly; garden tours and visits don’t always allow me to take much time, shoot in the perfect light, or capture the best angle. And, let’s face it, I’m not a pro. But there are a few photos I’ve managed to make that I really like, and that provide design inspiration for me. I’ll be adding more and more as time allows. Loved this shot of the white tulips on the edge of a gravel path in Holland. The simple green/white/black color scheme seems calm and elegant, but not boring.

This car in Holland gave me such a tickle. We drive too fast in the US to be able to adorn our cars like this. I love the idea of using flower arrangements outdoors for special occasions.

This urn filled with succulents in a conical topiary form is probably more work than most of us want to go to, but I hope it inspires you to try combining various forms of them. I saw this at the Missouri Botanical Garden.

Notice how the containers all vary in size, but they have a similar shape and color. The tulips are also similar in color. The grouping is like a large, pretty arrangement that helps lead you to the door, but doesn’t fight too much for your attention.
